The First Bite of Brave - A Poem
The First Bite of Brave, Author Unknown
You are not starting over from nothing,
You are starting over from experience.
The heavy armor you learned to wear
Is finally cracking beneath the weight of wanting more.
Let the scale sit silent in the corner,
And let the numbers blur into the background.
Today is not about perfection;
It is about the quiet rebellion of a single bite.
It is choosing the warmth of a meal
Over the cold, fleeting comfort of an empty stomach.
It is looking in the mirror and extending
The exact same grace you would give a friend.
Breathe in the terrifying, beautiful space
Of not knowing exactly what tomorrow brings.
You are planting roots in a brand new soil,
And learning, softly, how to live again.
