Moving Into Meditation Recovery Group

What is meditation and how can we use it as a tool in recovery?

In this 6-week series inspired by the book Moving Into Meditation by Anne Cushman, we will explore various ways to use meditation as a practice for connecting with our body and supporting our recovery. From mindful movement to breathwork to walking meditations and more, we will experience a variety of ways to meditate so that you can find the practice that best aligns with your personality, preferences, and needs.

This special class series, led by Yoga for Eating Disorders teacher Kristen Shuman, will meet on Zoom on Mondays 6 to 7 PM EST on June 13, June 20, June 27, (skip July 4), July 11, July 18, July 25. Join the live class or follow along with the recordings (Note: Only the teacher will be recorded, not the participants). You are welcome to practice with your camera on or off.

Each session will include a check-in, a journal/conversation prompt, a brief centering including a brief gentle yoga practice/intuitive movement to ready our body for meditation, followed by education on and exploration of specific meditations/tools that you can bring into your recovery and life. To end, we will process what each meditation was like, should anyone want to share, or has any questions.

Optional journaling/reflection prompts will be provided following each session, but there is zero "homework" or expectations between sessions. The goal of this group is to help you connect with your own wisdom about what you need from week to week.

A journal and a copy of Moving Into Meditation by Anne Cushman is required.

These classes are taught from a trauma informed, eating disorder informed, and mental health informed perspective and are accessible for all bodies. All are welcome. No prior yoga or meditation experience required.

Tuition: $70

Payment plans are available. Please contact me to set up payment.
