Quieting the Voices of Imposter Syndrome

Join us for a very special virtual workshop on Quieting the Voices of Imposter Syndrome led by guest teacher Sarah Webb, Narrative Medicine expert and writer. This workshop is for anyone who second guesses they are “good enough” to teach, lead, heal, and be of service to others.

This workshop will offer you tools to increase your self-confidence in your work and to lean in and trust that your own experiences have prepared you to be mindful listeners and (more than) competent space holders for the people you serve.

We will:

  • Define what “imposter syndrome”  is, and offer reassurance these feelings are common.

  • Introduce/Identify how the Narrative Medicine practices of close reading and close listening can create a space of healing support for clients and ourselves.

  • Participate in discussion and self-reflection activities to reinforce that that rather than being imposters, we are prepared to listen and receive the stories of others, and to trust that we are the right person at the right time because of our experiences.

You will leave this workshop with a renewed sense of self-confidence and new tools to help you challenge imposter syndrome thoughts in the future.

*This event will take place on Zoom on October 16 from 2 to 4pm, and you will be sent a link in advance to join. Honoring collective anonymity, there will be no recordings.

Tuition: $40

Payment plans are available. Please contact me to set up payment.

Meet Our Guest Teacher

Sarah E. Webb’s path is comprised of many stitches, but at heart, she is a storyteller. From the artist studio to the yoga studio, her multi-disciplinary approach considers both spaces as creative sites of corporeal process and practice. Sarah is the co-editor of Singular Women: Writing the Artist, UC Press, 2003, and a contributing writer for the online journal Instruments of Memory. For over fifteen years, Webb has taught and mentored students in yoga, writing, and meditation. She received her MFA from Visual Studies Workshop, is a certified Yoga Alliance E-RYT500 trainer, Yoga 12SR facilitator, and is currently completing her CPA in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. Sarah weaves her critical, visual, and perceptual background into a unique environment to map and make meaning of one’s individual stories and experiences from breath to pen, mat to page. Sarah resides in Rochester, NY and on Monhegan Island, 12 miles off the cost of Maine. For more information: tobejustsew.com
