Yoga Therapy for Inclusive Eating Disorder Recovery Training

learn how to apply yoga Philosophy to create inclusive, safer, and more accessible spaces for systemically excluded individuals

Begins February 28, 2023 - Reserve Your Spot

Join us for a NEW 12-week virtual training on Yoga Therapy for Inclusive Eating Disorder Recovery led by Niya Bajaj, C-IAYT beginning February 28. This training will deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy and how to apply the yamas and niyamas to remove barriers and biases around care for individuals experiencing eating disorders. Each week includes a deep dive into what it means to be inclusive and supportive of systematically excluded or otherwise marginalized individuals seeking support with eating disorder recovery.

This training is for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, mental health professionals, dietitians, wellness coaches, medical professionals, somatic professionals, and anyone who wishes to learn how to apply yoga ethics to create inclusive, safer, and more accessible spaces for systemically excluded individuals. All engaged in related work or interested in this topic are welcome. Some yoga knowledge is preferred but not required.

Over the 12 weeks we will:

  • Identify instances of systemic exclusion in yoga spaces and professional settings by examining content from the 12-part Yoga for Inclusive Eating Disorder Recovery Blog Series and explore the key ideas presented.

  • Use reflection, self-study, and dialogue to deepen our understanding of how trauma, systemic exclusion, food security, and other experiences impact people with intersectional identities.

  • Explore how we can integrate the yamas and niyamas into our professional work to deepen our relationships with ourselves and our communities.

By the end of 12 sessions, you will be able to:

  • Identify instances of systemic exclusion in yoga spaces and professional settings.

  • Implement actions based on yoga philosophy to increase the access to and quality of care for people with intersectional identity markers seeking support with eating disorder recovery.

  • Explain how the yamas and niyamas can be applied to addressing systemic exclusion.

  • Apply the yamas and niyamas in your teaching and practice leadership to provide more accessible, inclusive recovery support

  • Make a plan to integrate the practices and techniques you have learned in this training.

  • Practice leadership by seeking feedback from clients to support continuous quality improvement.

The 13 hours of training include:
