Taking Action: A Workshop on Inclusive Eating Disorder Recovery for Yoga Professionals

The yamas and niyamas are essential ethical frameworks that guide our personal yoga practice, and our practice as yoga professionals. These powerful tools guide us as we take actions that ensure we are holding inclusive spaces for the eating disorders community.

In this 3-hour virtual workshop, we will learn how the yamas and niyamas apply to being an ally and advocate in our work with the eating disorders community. We will explore the yamas and niyamas as tools to uncover and address bias, examine identity and the power of story, and how to get off the sidelines and take action as allies. This workshop will hold space for reflection, discussion, intention setting and action planning so that we can create and hold inclusive spaces that better serve the eating disorder community.

Who Should Participate

This workshop is for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of yoga philosophy and practices as they apply to eating disorders healing. The workshop will enrich your skills as an inclusive teacher or therapist.

You do not need any prior knowledge or study of yoga philosophy and you also do not need to be currently teaching or providing yoga therapy specifically in eating disorder recovery. The tools gained in this workshop will enrich your skills as a yoga teacher and yoga therapist and can be applied to offerings specific to eating disorders as well as public yoga classes.
