Body Mindful Yoga: A Workshop Devoted to Renewing Appreciation for Your Body

You are invited to join Jennifer Kreatsoulas, PhD, and Karen Samuels, PhD, for self-nurturing yoga practices to renew appreciation for your body. This workshop includes a vibrant mix of discussion, reflection, and yoga practices.

In this uplifting workshop, you will:
-Experience yoga and meditation practices to support you in creating a positive relationship with your body
-Share in meaningful discussion about social messages and body image
-Explore the relationship between language and body image
-Discover how you can apply yoga in your life to empower your relationship with your body
-Laugh, share, practice, grow, and laugh some more!

No yoga experience needed. All are welcome. This workshop is inspired by the teachings and practices in the book Body Mindful Yoga, by Jennifer Kreatsoulas and Robert Butera.

About the Facilitators

Jennifer Kreatsoulas, PhD, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, is a certified yoga therapist specializing in eating disorders and body image. She is the founder of Yoga for Eating Disorders, creator and host of Real Body Talk, author of Body Mindful Yoga, an international speaker, and mental health advocate. Jennifer provides yoga therapy via online and in person and leads yoga therapy groups at Monte Nido Eating Disorder Center of Philadelphia. She also teaches workshops, retreats, and specialized yoga and eating disorder recovery trainings for professionals. Her writing about her personal journey of eating disorder recovery and professional experience as a passionate yoga therapist has appeared in Yoga International, Yoga Journal, Recovery Warriors, and other influential blogs. Jennifer has appeared on Fox29 news and has been featured in the Huffington Post, Real Woman Magazine, SJ Magazine, Medill Reports Chicago, Philly.com, YOGA Magazine, and on several podcasts. Karen Samuels, PhD, is a licensed psychologist in Ormond Beach, Florida. Her career has been dedicated to empowering women and other forgotten populations through her community involvement, psychotherapy practice, and lectures and consultation. She is the founder and President of COPE: Community Outreach to Prevent Eating Disorders, a nonprofit since 2001. She is a consultant to the Halifax Health Family Medicine Residency Program, training physicians in interprofessional treatment teams. She is also an affiliate and key contributor to the Jean Baker Miller Training Institute, Wellesley Centers for Women, Wellesley College. Utilizing R
elational Cultural Theory(RCT), she spearheaded media literacy programs for middle schools in two school districts, as well as conducted eating disorder groups with midlife women. She has published widely, presents at national conferences, and can be found on podcasts, tweetchats, and Huffington PostLive highlighting eating disorders and related concerns. A lifelong yogi, she served as the resident psychologist and body image specialist, promoting size acceptance and diversity with online videos and blogs, on the yoga and wellness platform OneOEight.com. Dr. Samuels received the 2014 National Eating Disorders Association Westin Family Award for Activism and Advocacy in recognition of her community and social justice work.
